National College of Ireland

you are here: president's welcome

President's Welcome

We are delighted to welcome you to National College of Ireland's website. You are about to begin a new and exciting journey, one that we share with you. This will be a time of tremendous personal growth as you enter a new learning phase and push the boundaries of your ability. It will also be a time of transition as you adjust to a new environment and to a new way of life.

At NCI we see ourselves as working in partnership with you. We believe in your ability to progress, to achieve your ambitions and realise your potential. We see our role as facilitators of that development; guiding you on the journey and providing the support and encouragement to help you succeed.

Our students are the cornerstone of the College and the starting point for everything we do. Our educational programmes, services and faculties, delivery methods and mission are all designed with the student in mind. Based on our mission we have developed a unique Learner Charter which sets out our belief in student potential and our commitment to, and expectations of, our students.

College life can be challenging as you try to balance a busy workload with the competing demands of your personal, social and working life. It is very important to strike the right balance; to meet the academic challenges which College presents while still immersing yourself in the extracurricular activities that are an integral part of the College experience. Your time at NCI will open many doors but to avail of these benefits you must invest in your own potential and make learning your priority.

NCI is guided by the ‘Wellness Concept’. In addition to intellectual development, we also value the social, emotional, physical and spiritual dimensions of well-being. Your entire College experience, not just in the classroom, offers opportunities for learning. NCI has a very vibrant sport & recreation programme and we hope that you become involved in the social fabric of the College. From the Students’ Union, to the many clubs & societies and community initiatives, there are numerous opportunities for participation.

On behalf of all the staff I wish you the best in your studies. We are looking forward to sharing in your journey over the coming years and hope that you have a rewarding and fulfilling experience while studying at National College of Ireland.

Kind regards,

Dr. Paul Mooney
