LIBRARY 1st STOP
The NCI Library has a new search site for users called Library 1st Stop that helps us make better use of our electronic resources. Library 1st Stop allows you to search multiple databases simultaneously and to link to other resources which the library subscribes to. Not all online resources can be searched at the same time, however this page is the first stop on your research/information journey. The product uses software that translates your search into 'appropriate' language in each of the selected databases. Some of the databases/resources can be searched simultaneously. These have boxes which can be clicked in order to perform a simultaneous search. The other resources can be used individually by clicking on the title of the database/resource. Not all returns or hits that you search for from Library 1st Stop will be full text information. You may have to, on occasion, go directly to a specific database for additional information.
LIBRARY GUIDE
We have a new library guide which gives all the general information on opening hours, contact details, how many books you can borrow, and all the library services you can access. You can pick it up from the library, we will be happy to post it out to you, or you can access by clicking on this link Library Guide@NCI
Last semester's exams from April/ May 2009 are now available on the Past Examination Paper Database. You can track down the paper you are interested in by keyword in the search option, or go through the drop down menu/index at the left hand side of the database home page, following course/year/subject/semester etc. Please note that the past exams database is undergoing essential maintenance during summer 2009. Please contact the library if you can't access the paper you are looking for.
TOP TIP - if you are searching using the drop down menu/index click on the plus and/or minus signs next to each book/chapter/section-this speeds up the whole process of opening/closing sections, and locating files.
