Institutional Repository
In line with international practice to ensure wider dissemination of research to maximise its visibilty, accessibility and scientific impact for society and the economy, NCI supports free online access to this body of work. Accordingly NCI has developed an institutional repository called TRAP. Students and staff may log onto TRAP with their network accounts, and view and download theses and research projects. External visitors to the site may create a temporary user account which allows access to the repository's holdings. Student theses, and other projects, submitted for NCI degrees and diplomas will be deposited by editors in TRAP. Academic staff, research assistants, research students and other members of NCI are entitled to deposit digital copies of refereed research publications, and similar documents. Other material, for example documents by NCI staff completed in the course of employment, or material which is pertinent to the management of the college may also be submitted. Please note that owners of the copyright of material deposited in TRAP may exercise their intellectual property rights as a result of any copyright breach. Also the NCI operates a policy of scanning submitted projects and theses through anti-plagiarism software.
LIBRARY 1st STOP
The NCI Library has a search site for users called Library 1st Stop that helps us make better use of our electronic resources. Library 1st Stop allows you to search multiple databases simultaneously and to link to other resources which the library subscribes to. Not all online resources can be searched at the same time, however this page is the first stop on your research/information journey. The product uses software that translates your search into 'appropriate' language in each of the selected databases. Some of the databases/resources can be searched simultaneously. These have boxes which can be clicked in order to perform a simultaneous search. The other resources can be used individually by clicking on the title of the database/resource. Not all returns or hits that you search for from Library 1st Stop will be full text information. You may have to, on occasion, go directly to a specific database for additional information.
LIBRARY GUIDE
We have a library guide which gives all the general information on opening hours, contact details, how many books you can borrow, and all the library services you can access. You can pick it up from the library, we will be happy to post it out to you, or you can access by clicking on this link Library Guide@NCI
