Digital Marketing Business Breakfast
This morning we hosted a free business breakfast to give a taster of our upcoming Certificate in Digital Marketing. We had tea, coffee, pastries, fruit salad and two excellent speakers.
Dena Walker and Kirstie McDermott are expert digital practitioners who will be teaching on our new Certificate course.
Dena is a digital strategist at Irish International. She works with brands including Bank of Ireland, Electric Ireland, Avonmore, Fáilte Ireland and Mars amongst others. As a digital strategist, Dena focuses upon the marriage of consumer insights with technology, to create strategies that enable her clients to optmise their digital activities, in order to deliver against business objectives. Over thirteen years of experience has made Dena passionate about ensuring that digital strategies are user-centric, not platform/channel-centric. This, she believes, is the key to developing a successful strategy.
Dena spoke about how companies need to prepare for the constant change in the digital marketing sector. She touched on the varying ways in which people interact with brands online and how companies need to bear this in mind when developing their strategy.
Kirstie is a media professional with extensive experience across both the print and digital spheres. Her educational background and work experience over her career have been wide and varied – she’s created websites, marketed magazines and worked as a beauty editor – but one thing that marks her out is her ability to attract an audience and get things noticed. The founder of Beaut.ie, Ireland’s most popular women’s-interest website, she’s also the Irish Examiner’s Weekend Beauty Editor and Dyflin Media’s marketing coordinator. Kirstie specialises in great content, creative solutions, driving traffic and delivering messages.
Kirstie gave a presentation on leveraging social media for the benefit of your company. She also included some interesting (and quite funny) pitfalls that have occurred, demonstrating how easy it is to get it wrong.
If you couldn’t make this event you can find out more about the course and the team involved in our course brochure.
