Dr Horacio González-Vélez Announced As New Head of NCI's Cloud Competency Centre
National College of Ireland has appointed Dr Horacio González-Vélez as Head of its new Cloud Competency Centre, intended to support and strengthen the development of the cloud computing industry in Ireland and abroad.
Dr González-Vélez joins NCI from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. He is a recognised expert on cloud computing for the BCS, the UK Chartered Institute for IT.
The Cloud Competency Centre is part of NCI's established School of Computing, which delivers programmes from certificate to doctorate level and is already a leading provider of education in the cloud computing area. It aims to fulfil the rapidly growing educational needs of the cloud computing and web technology sectors.
The Centre has been developed in collaboration with a high-level advisory board, which consists of industry representatives from companies including Microsoft, IBM, Fujitsu and Google. Many indigenous Irish ICT organisations, across all sectors of the business and technology communities, are also represented on the advisory board. These include Staff Balance, Tradefacilitate, DANU Technologies and Orca Resources.
