MA in Human Resource Management
Programme Overview
Senior human resource professionals have a significant role to play in ensuring the achievement of organisational objectives, which is why it is so important that we offer HRM courses at National College of Ireland. This one year full-time Masters in Human Resource Management will equip you with the latest concepts in managing for results, strategic management, people resourcing, employee relations, the legal environment and learning and development. The HRM course will deepen your insight into human resource management theories and allow you to understand them in dynamic business environments. You will be able to analyse business needs and deliver effective solutions that optimise the people resources of any organisation.
Who is the HRM course for?
The masters in management for human resources will appeal to business and human resource management graduates who wish to upgrade their qualification, advance their career and assume positions at a senior management level with a specific focus on HRM.
Entry Requirements
Honours (level 8) primary degree (minimum 2nd class honours) in a cognate area (eg business, HRM, training, health sciences). In exceptional cases applicants without a primary degree may be considered based on extensive relevant work experience.
Schedule
The course will be operated on a full time basis Monday to Friday with approximately 21 hours per week. The course will consist of two taught semesters; September – December and February – May. Additionally students will complete a dissertation in the period May until August.
Award
Master of Arts in Human Resource Management.
Awarded by HETAC at Level 9 on the National Framework of Qualifications.
Graduates will be eligible to apply for graduate membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development
(CIPD). A membership fee will be payable directly to CIPD.
Career Prospects
As a graduate of the Postgraduate Diploma/ MA in HRM you will have both a Masters and professional CIPD qualification and will be equipped to work in a variety of areas, such as general HR Management and Development together with more specialist roles within Training & Development, Recruitment, Talent Management, employee relations, industrial relations and recruitment. Having a masters in management within human resources gives you many career options.
