Research in Education and Learning Technology (REALT)

In the School of Computing research activity is coordinated and structured around the REALT research group. REALT provides a forum for regular presentation and discussion of research work. It provides a meeting place for exchanges between faculty and students, and for invited talks by guest speakers. REALT aims to research and develop new interactive learning environments and artefacts for the strategic application of learning technology. It also aims to publish faculty research and create strategic partnerships with academic and industrial partners.

The research group meets every two weeks. During these meetings faculty discuss and present working papers, research plans and activities. The members of this group are the faculty and research students. The group has a publication strategy, whereby they plan and agree where they aim to publish work over the coming year. The publications are first reviewed by peers and presentations are first given to colleagues before presenting it at conferences. For research work which is not published at conferences, technical reports are published on the moodle. The process is in place to support faculty wishing to publish research that it is accessible, transparent and transferable.
