Duration
The programme runs over one academic year, in two semesters, two evenings per week.
Entry Requirements
A pass degree or equivalent and at least three years practical experience in industry.
Award
HETAC Higher Diploma in Business in Electronic Business (Level 8 National Qualification Framework). Progression is possible to level 9 and 10 programmes on the NQF.
Programme Fee
- Fees include tuition, registration, assessment and capitation fees
- Fees may be paid in two instalments

Description of Programme Modules
eBusiness Infrastructure
This module is taught over one semester. It provides students with an understanding of the technical infrastructure required to support Electronic Business applications. It provides students with the necessary background skills in the areas of networking, payment systems, security, encryption and authentication infrastructure required for the Electronic Business environment.
Fundamentals of Information Systems
This module is taught over one semester. It introduces students to the general principles of information technology that underpin the modern business. In particular, it focuses on those aspects of Information and Communications technologies that enable Electronic Business.
Competitive Advantage & eBusiness
This module is taught over one semester. It gives students a thorough grounding in the principles of strategy and its role in achieving competitive advantage with specific reference to eBusiness. In particular it endeavours to provide students with the tools necessary for them to understand and formulate strategy, with a view to achieving competitive advantage, through eBusiness.
eMarketing & Strategy
This module is taught over one semester. Its aim is to give a customer focused perspective and provide a framework for e-marketing strategy formulation. Students explore the major strategic marketing issues associated with ebusiness.
eBusiness Content
This module is taught over one semester. Its aim is to give students an understanding of the strategies and solutions required from a management perspective to plan, launch and run a successful web site. It deals with the issues and challenges encountered when developing and implementing an eBusiness web site and gives a framework within which these can be addressed.
Information Technology Law (IT Law)
This module is taught over one semester. The aim of this course is to teach the legal aspects of information technology and to equip the students with the skills and knowledge necessary to protect their own and others legal rights in the information society.
Change Management
This module is taught over one semester. It introduces students to the principles and practices of change management within organizations. In particular, the will focus on change management issues that are enabled and driven by Information and Communications Technologies.
eApplications
This module is taught over one semester. Its aim is to give students an understanding of the potential strategic impact of Electronic Business across the entire business applications spectrum. It identifies some of the management issues associated with successful eCommerce applications implementation.
Project
The aim of this module is to integrate the material learned in the taught modules of the programme covering technical, strategic and contextual topics through a real world practical project. The project involves students performing in-depth research of a significant eBusiness strategic area or strategic business application.
