Position:                           Early Learning Initiative - Assistant Director

Purpose of Position:     To assist in providing vision, team leadership and management of ELI

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in providing vision, team leadership and management of ELI
  • Support the development and implementation of ELI’s strategy and operational plan
  • Responsibility for the overall administration of ELI
  • Support the preparation of the annual report, annual budget, monitoring of monthly spend, submission of tenders as well as the regular updates to NCI’s Governing Body and the ELI Advisory Board and Subcommittees 
  • Responsibility for preparing budgets and for managing and accounting for income and expenditure within the NCI/Early Learning Initiative framework and the requirements of the EU, Pobal and CES
  • Work collaboratively with the ELI Director, team, NCI and partners to support the delivery of ELI, EU and Area Based Childhood (ABC) programmes
  • Chair consortium, working group and programme meetings and supporting programme implementation
  • Liaise with ELI’s partners, including community, statutory, government, EU, voluntary and community stakeholders 
  • Develop and support effective partnerships with other organisations in the early intervention and prevention, education and community development fields
  • Deputise for Director, when the Director is not available
  • Support the Director in the induction and mentoring of new staff
  • Develop organisational capacity within ELI to support programme research, creativity, innovation and enterprise
  • Liaise with other Schools and Departments within the college on behalf of ELI
  • Maintain fully compliant governance and organisational procedures
  • Any other duties as assigned by the ELI Director

Skills and Experience:

  • Recognized third level qualification
  • Sufficient breadth or depth of practical non-profit management experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Irish policy, early intervention and prevention, education, community and charity sectors
  • Relevant experience of working with children, young people, families and statutory agencies, 
  • Ability to develop, implement and evaluate effective and relevant organisational strategies, including innovative ideas and approaches
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to interact with a range of stake holders, including community and corporate stakeholders and other outside individuals/organisations
  • Team player with the ability to work in a cross disciplinary, integrated team, sharing roles and responsibilities
  • An energetic, confident and pro-active individual with excellent written, verbal and inter-personal communication skills with the ability to work independently and show initiative 
  • Excellent IT skills with high proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, CRM systems, databases and social media
  • High level of productivity and self-direction with a planned and systematic approach to the organisation of work
  • Results oriented with the ability to produce results under tight deadlines and with meticulous attention to detail
  • Flexible approach to work as evening and weekend work may be required
  • Excellent leadership, administrative and organisational skills

Salary:                                     Manager Salary Band (€52,260 - €71,858)

 Contract:                                This is a one-year fixed term full time position subject to ongoing funding

Annual Leave:                        27 days

 The successful candidate will be subject to Garda Vetting and must not hold any convictions under the Sex Offenders Act 2001.
