Position:                             Early Learning Initiative – Project Coordinator

Reporting to:                     Director of Early Learning Initiative

Purpose of Position:       Coordinate the Early Learning Initiative, EU and Area Based Childhood (ABC) Programmes 

Key Relationships:         

  • Director of the Early Learning 
  • Early Learning Initiative

  • Members of ABC 
  • Stakeholders in the local community, including parents, children and practitioner

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of ELI’s and ABC’s early years, primary school and after-school programmes, in particular the ABC Early Years Numeracy and EU Literacy Programmes
  • Organise, deliver and evaluate at least 3 Early Years Interagency Working Group Meetings (0-8 years) a year
  •  Design, organise, deliver and evaluate CPD workshops for professionals and parents
  •  Provide mentoring and support to all early years practitioners, infant class teachers and afterschool staff  in:

-  Implementing Aistear and Síolt

Supporting parental involvement in children’s learning, in accordance with Síolta Standard 3: Parents and Families

- Developing systems to monitor, reflect on and improve practice based on Síolta Standard 8: Planning and Evaluation

- Facilitate and promote smooth transitions, which provide continuity and progression in learning, in accordance with Síolta Standard 13: Transitions

  •  Liaise with statutory and voluntary bodies, including EU partners, CES and Pobal around the development of the ELI, EU and ABC Programmes and opportunities for shared learning and collaboration
  •  To manage the budget and accounts for ELI, EU and ABC Programmes within the NCI/Early Learning Initiative framework and the requirements of the EU, Pobal and CES
  • Prepare and maintain records, reports and/or evaluation data on the programmes and participating professionals, children and families
  •  Liaise with key stakeholders, including ABC Consortium, EU Partners, Pobal, CES, other Departments within NCI and other statutory, community and voluntary bodies around the development of the ELI, EU and ABC Programmes
  •  Provide information as required to the  ELI Director and NCI’s Finance Department for EU and ABC returns and budgets
  • Any other duties as assigned by the ELI Director

Skills and Experience required:

  •  Relevant 3rd level qualification
  •   Relevant experience of working with children, young people, families and statutory agencies, 
  •  Experience in developing and delivering relevant professional development programmes
  • Excellent Facilitation and presentation skills
  •   Ability to develop and support innovative ideas and approaches;
  • Ability to work with marginalized families and have an understanding of the issues of marginalisation
  • Ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of College personnel, community and corporate stakeholders and other outside individuals/organisations
  • Flexible approach to work as evening and weekend work may be required
  • Ability to operate as a team player in a cross disciplinary, integrated team, sharing roles and responsibilities
  • An energetic, confident and pro-active individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent leadership, administrative and organisational skills

Salary:                                     Administrator Salary Band (€30,150 - €42,210) 

Contract Type:                       Specific Purpose Contract covering Maternity Leave - expected duration minimum 7 months

Annual Leave:                       24 days 

 The successful candidate will be subject to Garda Vetting and must not hold any convictions under the Sex Offenders Act 2001.
