Position: Quality Officer

Reporting to: Director of Quality Assurance & Statistical Services

Purpose of Position:
To support the management and oversight of quality assurance and enhancement processes involved in the development, delivery, evaluation and review of academic programmes. To support the development of a continuous improvement culture through supporting the implementation of continuous improvement projects within NCI

Key Tasks
Support the programme development process by
• Implementing the programme development project planning process and templates, to include all relevant milestones, such as authoring, internal & external validations, marketing, resourcing and facilities planning, etc.
• Supporting the Programme Director/Programme Developer in the development of a summary programme development project plan for the initial Programme Proposal submission and a detailed project plan for the development of approved programmes.
• Supporting the Programme Director/Programme Developer in the communication of key programme development tasks to the programme development team through the NCI portal and/or other mechanisms
• Providing advice & guidance on the implementation of awarding body and NCI policy and guidelines
• Attending programme development team meetings scheduled by the Programme Director/Programme Developer.
• Maintaining up to date (monthly) status reports/dashboards for all programmes that have been approved for development by NCI Executive Group.
• Assisting the Programme Director in identifying project risks and mitigation strategies.
• Providing technical assistance to programme development teams toward finalising submission documents, version control etc.
• Carrying out academic due diligence processes for all collaborative provision
• Producing reports from internal review panels
• Organising production of submission documentation in preparation for and organisation of validation events
• Organising internal and external validation events

Support institutional review, programmatic review and other accreditation processes for professional bodies (e.g. CIPD, ICM) through
• Project management (as above) for Deans of School, Vice Deans and Programme Directors
• Providing technical assistance to programme development teams toward finalising submission documents, version control etc.
• Organising production of submission documentation
• organisation of programmatic review events
Supporting Service functions benchmarking projects through
• Supporting project management (as above) for Heads of Function
• Providing technical assistance toward finalising submission documents, version control etc.
• Organising production of submission documentation in preparation for organisation of peer review events
• Organising internal and external validation events

Support programme delivery
• Co-ordination of student feedback mechanism each semester
• As directed by the DQASS, provide data analysis and reports on aspects of the College activities which support the implementation of quality assurance mechanisms. e.g. audit of QA mechanisms, reports on student feedback, etc.
• Supporting ELI programme delivery and research evaluations
Support for Continuous Improvement Initiatives
• Assist and support the Director Quality Assurance & Statistical Services with continuous improvement initiatives identified by Executive Team
o e.g. Documentation of business processes, business process mapping etc. , assisting functions and Schools with the production of standard operating procedures etc.

Institutional Research & Engagement
• As directed by the DQASS, undertake internal and external research to inform policy decisions and directions in relation to quality enhancement, academic policies and processes
• Participate in professional networks and deputising for Director of QA & Statistical Services as appropriate at College and/or external events.
• Work with NCISU and national agencies to further student engagement policy and practice

Experience and Skills:

• Educated to level 8 or equivalent on the national framework of qualifications.
• Experience in a further or higher education environment
• The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a particular awareness of the interface between the academic and administrative departments and the processes that support them and have an understanding of the external national and international higher education environment
• Ability to research, analyse data and produce reports and recommendations based on evidence
• Clear evidence of self-motivation with an ability to work alone and under pressure as part of a constantly changing working environment
• A strong background in administration and policy formation with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to meet deadlines and multi task
• A proven interest in information management and experience working with information systems and excellent IT Skills
• Proven ability to manage and take a lead role in projects, including working with teams of various sizes with a variety of stakeholders
• Effective presentation, negotiation, leadership and team-building skills

Salary: Senior Specialist / Supervisor (Salary Band: €40,200 -€60,300)
Annual Leave: 24 days per annum
Contract: Permanent full-time
