Network Administrator

National College of Ireland's IT Department are currently recruiting for a Senior Technical Specialist Network Administrator.

Purpose of the Position

National College of Ireland are seeking to recruit a Network Administrator to work with a team of motivated and knowledgeable IT professionals. The Network Administrator is responsible for the deployment, maintenance and administration of IT Networks at all College sites.

The Network Administrator will provide project planning, project implementation and operational support in all networking disciplines, including network hardware and software maintenance, administration of routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers and support of networking functionality for business applications.

The successful candidate must be familiar with Microsoft technologies and willing to perform cross-functional duties as necessary to support the team in delivering services. The ideal candidate will have exposure to the Microsoft Azure platform.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not exclusive to, the administration, support, and maintenance of the following:

  • Administration of NCI core network infrastructure
  • Administration of NCI Wi-Fi network
  • Administration of NCI Firewalls
  • Administration of Azure VNETS
  • Administration of VPNs
  • Troubleshooting and resolution of server and network issues
  • Interact with the First Line Response Team members where support requests are escalated to them and manage such requests to closure
  • Meet IT and business requirements efficiently, ensuring a first class service is provided to the business at all times in terms of quality and proactive service

Key Attributes

  • A third level qualification in ICT is essential
  • Cisco CCNA qualification desirable
  • At least 5 years’ experience working in an IT Administration role
  • Experience in Firewall administration
  • Extensive Network Administration experience
  • Experience working with Cisco and Juniper technologies an advantage
  • Experience working with Azure a distinct advantage
  • Strong technical and analytical skills
  • Team player
  • Ability to take ownership of assigned projects / tasks and deliver to completion
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and experience presenting technical material to management team

Terms of Employment

Salary: Senior Technical Specialist band
Annual Leave: 24 days
Contract: Full-Time Permanent
Visa: Candidates must hold a valid working visa
Language: Fluent English both written and oral
