Is there a fee involved?

If you are applying online there is no fee involved however if you choose to download the application form and send it into the college, there is a fee of €25.


How long does the application process take?

Your application will be processed and acknowledged within 5 working days. You may then be called for an interview to support your application. If you are offered a place on a course you will be notified by formal letter. At that time you will be provided with details concerning fees, deposits and deadlines.



How do I apply for an undergraduate course?

Applications for undergraduate courses are carried out through the CAO. For more information on this process visit www.cao.ie.
If you are over 23 on the 1st of January the year you are applying you will be applying as a mature student. Mature students apply directly to the college using this <application form>.




Can I transfer to NCI?

Transfer students may apply to all NCI full-time day programmes directly to the college by May 30th, please contact our Admissions team for further details: Tel 1850 221 721


How can I defer my entry?

A student who has been offered a place may defer acceptance for one year under certain circumstances deemed appropriate by the College. Applications for deferrals will not be considered after the end of the first term, except in extenuating circumstances. In relation to CAO courses, the College operates a policy in common with other third-level institutions. Further information can be gained in the CAO handbook or the CAO website.


Can I apply for a grant?

All full-time undergraduate courses are grant-aided under the Higher Education Grants' Scheme and the Vocational Education Committee's (VEC) Scholarship Scheme. Mature Students qualify in their own right. However, while applicants to these programmes may apply for both a VEC Scholarship and a Higher Education Grant, only one or other of these may be held by any individual. Full details and application forms are available from your Local Authority or VEC. The College's programmes do not attract European Social Fund (ESF) funding.

How do I apply as a FETAC student?

Students with FETAC Awards must apply through the CAO system
NCI welcome's PLC students who are presenting FETAC (NCVA level 2) awards. Such applicants are assessed separately from ALL other applicants and do not have to meet minimum entrance requirements based on leaving certificate results
