The Vice Dean of Undergraduate Programmes and Learning and Teaching will lead on curriculum development, quality assurance, academic planning, teaching excellence, programme innovation and learning and teaching. This role aligns directly with NCI’s mission to change lives through education, delivering responsive, high-quality, industry-relevant programmes.

Key Responsibilities:
Academic Oversight and Planning:
- The timetabling and allocation of teaching responsibilities for the school’s undergraduate programmes and upskilling programmes level 6 to 8 in conjunction with the Dean and Vice Dean of Postgraduate Programmes and Research.
- Undertake line management responsibilities (as agreed with the Dean of School) for permanent and associate faculty engaged in teaching the school’s undergraduate and upskilling programmes level 6 to 8.
- Fulfil the role of Subject leadership through the provision of agreed academic oversight across all Level 6, 7, 8 programmes and modules.
- Leading and advancing learning & teaching, pedagogy, learning innovation and assessment, digital delivery models, academic integrity, and continuous enhancement of curriculum design and delivery for the school (both undergraduate and postgraduate). Responsible for ensuring implementation of and day-to-day oversight of NCI’s QA policy and procedures for the school’s undergraduate and upskilling programmes level 6 to 8.
- Will manage staff and conduct staff appraisals in line with college policy.
- Will work with the relevant professional bodies associated with the portfolio of School programmes.
- Will lead and manage relevant programme development.
- Lead, manage and oversee the day-to-day operations for undergraduate and upskilling programmes level 6 to 8 within the school.
- Ensure that the views of undergraduate students and upskilling programmes level 6 to 8 within the School are appropriately acted upon.
- Play a leading role in the development and management of international collaborations and partnerships.
- Take a leadership role on programme accreditations.
- Work collaboratively with other internal Schools and Departments.
- Attend and contribute to Academic Council and other committees.
- Attend and contribute to Academic Operations.
Key Requirements:
It is expected that the successful candidate will have the following capabilities:
- PhD
qualification in a relevant discipline, or evidence of being on track to
complete a doctoral studies programme.
- Experience
and knowledge of learning and teaching networks that are relevant to the school.
- Presented
conference papers at academic conferences and symposia, nationally and
internationally.
- Evidence
of success in innovation in learning, teaching and assessment.
- Clear
understanding of the demands on a modern School of Computing (i.e. quality
of provision, attractive and relevant portfolio, and income generation).
- Good
standing within own specialised academic field including evidence of
publications.
- Ability
to contribute to the development of strategy.
- Evidence of resource
management

Shortlisting
HR draft up the shortlisting documents and provide the initial screening to determine if a person meets the essential criteria of the competition. A shortlisting panel is generally made up of two senior grade staff members from the relevant department for which the role is being recruited.

Where you have been successfully shortlisted for a post, each interview panel member will be furnished with a copy of the relevant information of those who will be attending interview in order that they can review applications in advance of the interview process.
