The School of Computing’s research and commercialisation strategy is implemented through the college's Computing Research and Innovation Group (CRIG). The current focus of this research group is on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, and eLearning. CRIG aims to support Irish industry taking a lead in providing teaching, research and entrepreneurship skills through a mutually beneficial collaboration of experts from industry and academia.

The NCI School of Computing International Advisory Board informs the research focus of CRIG. The International Advisory Board consists of leading academics as follows:

  • Professor Jeffrey D. Ullman, Stanford W. Ascherman Professor of Computer Science, Stanford University (Board Chairperson);
  • Professor Michael Franklin, Professor of Computer Science at UC Berkeley;
  • Professor Armando Fox, Professor of Computer Science at UC Berkeley; and,
  • Professor John E. Hopcroft, NCI Fellow and IBM Professor of Engineering and Applied Mathematics in Computer Science at Cornell University.
