NCI delighted to once again take part in Culture Night

At National College of Ireland, we are very proud and excited to officially announce that we are once again participating in Culture Night.

Oíche Chultúir/ Culture Night is a national moment, one that celebrates the rich, diverse culture in Ireland today. It is a moment that connects people to cultural activities locally and nationally, aiming to open pathways to ongoing engagement.

Culture Night is an annual, all-island public event which takes place each year on the second last Friday of September. Culture Night celebrates culture, creativity, and the arts. Culture Night passionately supports and promotes the belief that this rich and varied culture is alive, treasured, and nurtured in people’s lives, today and every day.

In Dublin, Culture Night is an electrifying event that transforms the city into a living, breathing museum. This celebration brings museums, galleries, historic buildings, and hidden corners to life with an unparalleled celebration of Irish culture. The event came to life in 2006 through an initiative of Dublin City Council and Temple Bar Cultural Trust. A small, local event has blossomed into an international event. From 2012 onwards, it became an international event, and it is amazing to see Irish Culture Nights being held in other cities like London, Paris, and New York. Thanks to the continued support of the Arts Council and local authorities across the island of Ireland, all activities are available to the public Free of Charge. You are invited to start your Culture Night at National College of Ireland. Join us in NCI’s Mayor Square building for an evening that you will not want to miss.

Visit National College of Ireland’s Mayor Square on Culture Night. Our Early Learning Initiative, alongside the Schools of Computing, Business and Social Sciences, and our community groups will welcome you to explore a world of STEM, wellness, and learning through play. ELI’s PlayLab and Sanctuary Space is a dedicated indoor play and therapeutic space for children aged 0-6 years, that supports our goal to make Dublin’s Inner City a safer, more vibrant living and working environment for the community’s families.

Visitors will enjoy exploring a range of stands in the atrium, activities for all ages across a range of subjects in the Kelly theatre, and light refreshments in the Bakehouse canteen. There will be arts and crafts, apprenticeships chats and games, football groups in the quad; the campus will be buzzing with activity including a visual art tour and photography displays. Everyone, staff, community guests, and student voices will come together to illustrate how we continuously strive to ensure that NCI is a safe place that is welcoming and inclusive to all, a place where everyone can learn and thrive.

Our campus hosts a diverse student population of talented learners who have pursued their passions at NCI. Supported by our staff and our partners in the wider community, we look forward to welcoming you to our Mayor Square building on Culture Night, because we celebrate culture everyday, every step of the way at NCI
