Mutual Library Access Agreement: Marino Institute of Education & National College of Ireland
From 1st September 2025 to 27th August 2026, the libraries of Marino Institute of Education (MIE) and National College of Ireland (NCI) will collaborate to offer shared access to study spaces and print collections for registered students, faculty, and staff of both institutions.
Visitors must present valid student/staff ID cards for entry. While online databases and photocopying facilities remain institution-specific due to licensing, Eduroam ensures seamless internet access across both campuses.
This initiative, proposed by librarians Genevieve Larkin (MIE) and Mary Buckley (NCI), promotes academic cooperation and resource sharing. The agreement will be reviewed in July 2026 and may be extended. Full details will be available on both library websites from 1st September.
"I’m really pleased to be working together with Marino Institute of Education Library and Genevieve Larkin, Librarian to make our library spaces and resources more accessible for both communities. This agreement is a great step toward building stronger academic connections and supporting students and staff in a practical way," says Mary Buckley, Librarian, National College of Ireland, Aug. 2025
“This partnership with NCI Library is an exciting opportunity to extend the academic environment beyond our own campus. By enabling mutual access to study spaces and print collections, we’re supporting flexibility, choice, and a shared sense of academic community. I’m proud that MIE is part of an initiative that puts the needs of students and staff first while fostering collaboration between institutions," says Genevieve Larkin, Head of Library Services, Marino Institute of Education, August 2025.
MIE library is in St. Patrick's Hall on the MIE campus on Grace Park Road, Dublin 9.
NCI library is in the college's new building on Spencer Dock, Dublin 1, along Mayor Street between the Mayor Square and Spencer Dock Luas stops.
