Well done to NCI’s Dr Barry Coughlan, whose research article on risk and adversity in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services has been Highly Commended by editors of the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry, having been nominated in the JCPP ‘Advances’ category at the ACAMH (Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health) awards last night.
In this paper, Barry and colleagues ask what type of risk and adversities are identified by mental health services and are there certain profiles of risk that clinicians are identifying?
The full paper is freely accessible and can be viewed here.
Barry recently sat down to discuss the paper with Professor Umar Toseeb to discuss this paper for the ACAMH podcast. Listen to Risk Practices in CAMHS: Exploring Risk Rates and Profiles at Intake.
Many congratulations to Barry and his colleagues at the University of Cambridge and National Children’s Bureau. The full list of those shortlisted for the ACAMH Awards and the awardees is available here: ACAMH Awards 2025 Results - Recognising Advancements in CAMH Research and Practice - ACAMH
