NCI Faculty Contribute 4 Papers to Special Issue of Social Sciences Journal

The latest issue of the journal Social Sciences focuses on understanding gender and fostering positive social change: we are proud to say that NCI faculty have contributed 4 papers to this special issue. These papers include:

  • A conceptual paper on understanding and addressing gender issues using a Relational Frame Theory perspective by Dr Lynn Farrell and her colleagues Drs Tahcita Mizael and Evelyn Gould, see here
  • An empirical paper on transgender students’ experiences navigating their identity while studying abroad by Dr Amanda Kracen and colleagues (which is also the cover story of the journal), see here
  • An empirical paper on the use of framing and visual communications during the Irish campaign to repeal the 8th amendment and how these strategies may promote meaningful dialogue by Drs Louise Maguire and Fiona Murphy, see here
  • A discussion paper raising awareness about the gender biases that large language models and generative AI may perpetuate and how this might be addressed by Dr Nicole Gross, see here

Further interesting papers are forthcoming but it’s exciting to see NCI so well represented in this issue (which aligns well with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals): manuscripts went through a rigorous peer review process with subject experts who recognized these papers as timely and important. NCI is grateful to our faculty for their hard work and proud of their success.
