ABC 0-5 Community Parent Support Programme

The ABC 0-5 Parent Support Programme, now in its seventh year, was developed and piloted in collaboration with local parents and professionals. It has a dual purpose of supporting positive parent-child learning interactions as well as linking parents to the other parents and local supports.   All the sessions are based on best practice: Aistear, The Early Childhood Curriculum Framework (NCCA 2000), Síolta the National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education (CECDE 2006), Aistear Síolta Practice Guide (2015), Parents Together Community Course (Parents Plus & NCI 2008) and ParentChild+ Programme.

Using carefully selected educational resources, the Community Support Programme give parents the opportunity to:

  • Play with their babies/toddlers (zero to five years old) in a stimulating environment,
  • Learn more about developing their children’s learning through play,
  • Meet and learn from other parents of young children
  • Find out information about other supports and services in the area.

Groups are held across the year and include Storytelling, Song-time, Fitness for Mams, Read, Rattle and Roll, Baby Yoga, Weaning workshop, and Baby Massage courses.

The following groups are running this term:

  • Fitness for Mams: every Monday & Thursday at 11 am (approx. 40 mins) returns mid-Sept.
  • Storytelling: Tuesdays at 10.30 am (no break for Summer)
