About Paul

Having left school before completing the state exams, Paul later explored furthering his education with National College of Ireland at a point in time when access to higher education was limited. Thankfully, this was the start of a lifelong learning journey for Paul who, having left secondary school at just 13 years of age, now holds a Master's Degree in Executive and Business Coaching and Ph.D in Industrial Sociology.

Paul's story is one of belief and determination. During his tenure as President of National College of Ireland (2007-2010), Paul championed the College's mission to change lives through education, focusing on removing barriers to formal education and building confidence in students who may have felt that this was not the right path for them or that they would not be able to compete with high achievers.

Paul's journey is an example of the power of second-chance education and how it can change lives for future generations.

The Real Power of NCI

In terms of Ireland's changing social and economic landscape, Paul notes the importance of NCI for providing a bridge for non-traditional cohorts of students given how that having a third-level education is more essential than ever before.

"The real power of NCI is to equalise the playing field by ensuring all students can reach their full potential."

Paul's legacy continues to this day as NCI stays true to its core mission to change lives through education.
