How many residents share an apartment?

The apartments vary in size between 3 – 8 bedrooms. The kitchen and living areas in apartments also vary in size according to bedroom numbers. 1st year students will likely be assigned to a 6 or 8 bedroom apartment.

Can I cancel my place once I have been accepted?

Yes, but a cancellation charge of €200.00 will be deducted from the booking fee.

Where a student is a CAO first-year applicant and they do not secure their college place, the office must be notified within 48 hours of CAO offers that they would like to cancel their place. In this instance, the full deposit will be refunded. If notice is given after 48 hours, then the applicant will be charged €200.00 cancellation fee.

Where an international NCI student is unsuccessful in obtaining their VISA they will receive a full refund, providing they notify the accommodation office at least two weeks prior to the start of the accommodation term. If notice to cancel is received later the applicant will incur a €200 administration fee, which will be deducted from their deposit. The applicant will also be liable for the rent until a new applicant takes over the lease. Cancellations must be made in writing and sent by email to campus.residences@ncirl.ie.

What are the office opening hours?

The Accommodation Office is open at the following times:

Monday - Friday: 9.00am-1.00pm, 2.00pm-5.00pm and 6.00pm-8.00pm
Saturdays: 3.00pm-5.00pm
Sunday: 5.00pm-7.00pm

Opening hours will be extended during allocated check-in weekends. Please note that from time-to-time meetings take place and the office may be closed for short periods. In this instance please call back later for assistance.

Utility charge/ Electricity Fair Usage Policy

The utilities, are covered in the total charge which includes an electricity fair usage policy. You are entitled to use electricity for heat, light and cooking limited to an average expenditure representing an amount that is considered to be fair and reasonable (based on cost for a normal student’s usage of electricity which has been calculated across two years of historical residential use).

Does the NCI campus close for Christmas?

No – the campus does not close for the Christmas week; however it will be necessary for residents to inform the Accommodation office by the 4th Dec that they intend to stay on campus over this period.

How do I collect my post and what will my address be?

Post is sorted into pigeon boxes in the Accommodation Office, according to surname. Your address will be:

  • Your Name

  • Your room number and apartment block e.g. Apt 5.2.1 Zurich

  • Campus Residences

  • National College of Ireland

  • IFSC, Dublin 1

Do I have to pay a deposit?

No, the accommodation office will no longer process deposit payments. From the 2019/ 2020 academic year onwards you will need to pay a booking fee charge of €400 in place of the booking deposit. The booking fee will be non-refundable but will be deducted from the total accommodation charge for that academic year.
