Programme Accreditation and Qualification Level

National College of Ireland runs the Postgraduate Diploma in Arts in Learning and Teaching (Further Education Track) as a teacher accreditation course recognised by the Teaching Council in accordance with Section 38 of the Teaching Council Act, 2001 and Regulation Five of the Teaching Council (Registration) Regulations 2009. Throughout this programme you will be encouraged to enquire, question and critique modern conceptions of how we learn and how we can bring about learning in others. You will be expected to complete practical assignments and to build your skills as an educator, including undertaking the placement in host colleges or centres. The placement module must be completed by all student teachers intending to meet the requirements of the Teaching Council for completion of recognised teacher accreditation programme in further education.
