The NCI Computing Project Showcase is an exciting day on campus where the college is turned into an exhibition space for students to present their projects.

The Computing Project Showcase is an annual event which gives final-year students the opportunity to display their work and the skills they have learned as part of their degree to potential employees. 

The event usually takes place on campus at National College of Ireland with friends and family and our students invited to attend along with any member of the public who has an interest in this area.

2025 Showcase Winners

The Gold Award for Best Overall Project Sponsored by Citi:

  • Sean-Robert Ntonya: EcoDetect – an IoT (Internet of Things) based environmental monitoring system that uses Raspberry Pi sensors and AWS services to track temperature, humidity, pressure, water usage, and vehicle usage, alerting exceeded thresholds and generating reports that offer AI-powered insights to help users optimise their energy usage and reduce their environmental impact and carbon footprint. 

The Silver Award Sponsored by HSE

  • Kyle White: Orrery – uses C#, JSON, Blender 4.0 and Unity Engine 6 to offer a 3D stellar system generator and editor, based on real world physics and observed exoplanet trends, for use as an education and design tool. 

The Bronze Award Sponsored by Fidelity Investments

  • Xiangze Zue: Smart Fitness Plan Generator – A tool that creates personalised fitness plans, including workouts, nutrition and progress tracking, using Java, Vue framework, JavaScript, Spring Boot, MySQL, and OpenAI API.

The NCI Ada Lovelace Award

  • Eve Gibney: Warrior Tournaments - A tournament manager platform where users can register for tournaments, track their leaderboard standings, and climb the ranks by earning points from tournament wins. It also offers live streams of ongoing matches, delivering an all-in-one gaming experience, using Next.js, Node.js, tailwind css, Cloudinary, vercel, neon, postgreSQL, IDMB api, Twitch api and playwright.

NCI has a strong tradition of providing professionally focused education for our students. We place great emphasis on employability skills and courses are developed in collaboration with industry, ensuring they are relevant to the changing demands of employers.
