Key Responsibilities at NCI

  • Lecturing on Software Development, Operating Systems, Data Communication and Networking.
  • Performing research in the areas of technology enhanced personalised m/ e-learning, game based e-learning, adaptive multimedia delivery over wireless networks and energy saving solutions.
  • Supervising final year students, Master and PhD students.
  • Developing new Level 8 and 9 programmes and acting as Programme Director for various programmes.
  • Pursuing funded academic and research activities, in line with the core interests of the School. Participating in various College-related activities and committees.

Research Interests

  • Dr. Cristina Muntean is actively involved in research in the areas of adaptive e-learning, game-based learning, adaptive hypermedia, learner’s motivation, energy saving solutions, and adaptive multimedia over wireless networks areas. Her excellent research activity is demonstrated by the high number of publications (one book, six book chapters and over 50 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers), by the research funds she have attracted (5 successful grants), by the number of PhD and Master students as well as undergraduate students (4 PhDs and 6 Masters, over 30 undergraduates) she has supervised and by the 4 Best Paper Awards received for research papers presented at international conferences. She is constantly involved not only in the Irish research community, but also in the international research community. She acts as a partner in various research projects submitted for EU funding calls in collaboration with other European universities, research centres and companies. She is a technical programme committee member and reviewer for various prestigious conferences and journals, and as a PhD/Master external examiner for research theses submitted for examination at various European Universities.
