About the Diploma Supplement

Introduction to the Diploma Supplement, which aims to improve international 'transparency' and facilitate the academic and professional recognition of qualifications.

From 2005, the Ministers for Education from the European Union countries agreed a requirement for graduates to receive a Diploma Supplement aimed at improving international 'transparency' and at facilitating the academic and professional recognition of qualifications (diplomas, degrees, certificates etc). The Diploma Supplement provides additional information regarding your award, which is not available on your official HETAC parchment, such as the skills and competencies acquired, the level of the qualification and the results achieved, and entry requirements and access opportunities to the next level of education etc.

Am I entitled to receive a Diploma Supplement?

You are entitled to receive a Diploma Supplement if you graduated from National College of Ireland post 2005 with a HETAC award worth 60 ECTS credits or more. If you are a current student, your Diploma Supplement will automatically be issued to you within four weeks of your graduation. There is no fee for this service for the first issue of the document.

If you have already received your Diploma Supplement, please ensure you keep the document in a safe place. Replacements are available upon request and for a fee of €50.00.

How do I obtain a replacement?

Please complete the Diploma Supplement Reissue Request Form and return to the exams office by submitting a request on the NCI Support Hub along with the appropriate fee.

Graduates should note that reissues may take up to 10 working days to process due to external printing factors.

If you have any queries regarding the Diploma Supplement, please contact the Exams Office by submitting a request on the NCI Support Hub.
