International Student Emergency Hardship Fund

This Fund aims to provide short-term emergency financial assistance to international students who are experiencing unforeseen hardship.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students must be registered with NCI as a full-time international student for at least 6 months before being eligible to apply for the fund.
  • Students Fees must be paid in full.
  • Students can only apply once.
  • The student's circumstances must be unforeseen i.e. unanticipated, unexpected or extraordinary.
  • Students must provide evidence of their change in circumstance. The student needs to be able to demonstrate the impact on their financial planning for the year. 
  • Proof of financial hardship must be supplied/supported and any incorrect information supplied may disqualify an application. 
  • The fund is limited and not every application can be supported.

Examples of successful applicants:

  • Student finds themselves homeless due to changes in rental accommodation. 
  • Student requires assistance to return home as recently diagnosed with a serious illness or condition.

Potential expenses which may be covered include:

  • Emergency accommodation (short-term)
  • Emergency expenses for food (short-term) 
  • Short term expenses to allow time to access other funds. 

Expenses such as student fees, loan repayments or any expenses which could have reasonably been foreseen as part of international study will not be covered.
