As an international student, you will need letters to help you get established in Ireland.

As a registered NCI student with a valid student login, you can self-generate the majority of the student letters you need via NCI360 at the Student Letter Hub. Immigration letters, on the other hand, can be requested by completing the Letter Request Form and submitting it as a request via the NCI Support Hub.

New students: students starting in January 2023 will have access to the Student Letter Hub from 18 January 2023. Please note access to this app is based on whether you have submitted your Registration Form and paid your fees in full.

Requesting Student Letters

Follow these simple steps to request your international letter:

  1. Ensure your home and mailing address is up to date on MyDetails
  2. Log in to NCI360 
  3. Select Student Letter Hub to access the letters listed below:
  • Registration letter: this letter can be used as proof of enrolment at NCI. Please note this letter cannot be used to register or renew your permission with Irish immigration. For more information on how to get a letter for immigration, please continue reading below.
  • Casual work letter: international students on a valid student visa (stamp 2) are permitted to reside in the State and to avail of a work concession for casual work. You can use this letter to submit to employers to inform them of the details of the work concession.
  • Generic bank letter: one of the required documents to open a bank account is proof of address. Once students have secured accommodation and have updated their MyDetails account, they will be able to use this letter as proof of address.
  • PPSN tax number letter: the awarding body for NCI is QQI (Quality and Qualifications Ireland). QQI requires all students to have a PPSN to graduate and receive their parchment. A PPSN is also needed to work in Ireland as it is required for tax purposes.
  • Visa invitation letter: friends and family wishing to visit students in Ireland may require a visa to enter. You can use this letter to give to your friends and family to submit as part of their visa application.
  • Travel visa application letter: if you wish to travel outside of the Republic of Ireland, you may require a visa. You can use this letter to support your application if you are from a visa required country.
  • Education bond letter: some students have education bonds that require a letter to release the funds. You can use this letter to do so.

Note: Letters requested from NCI360 will be sent to your student email address within a few minutes after the request.

If you alter your details on the MyDetails app takes 24 hours for the system to update a new address. For example, If you are requesting a bank or PPSN letter and have just changed your address, please wait 24 hours before requesting the letter.

Other letters: any other letters not mentioned below can be requested by completing a Letter Request Form and submitting it to the International Office on the NCI Support Hub

Requesting Immigration Letters

The International office issues Irish immigration letters. To request an immigration letter, you should complete the Letter Request Form and submit a request in NCI Support Hub. Letters requested by Letter Request Form via the NCI Support Hub will be processed within 2 working days.

Working hours: The International Office working days are Monday-Friday 9-5pm (Irish time). If you request a letter by 4pm on Monday you will receive it by Wednesday and if you request a letter by 4pm on Friday you will receive it by Tuesday.

New students: registering for the first time with immigration do not need to request a immigration letter. The student immigration letter is emailed to your student email within 3 working days of your scheduled Welcome Meeting.
