    Key Responsibilities:
  • Day to day responsibility for the delivery of efficient, high quality information services to library users with a strong emphasis on customer care. This will include responding to, or managing staff or who respond to, first line enquiries by phone email or face to face, and ensuring specialist enquiries are referred on as appropriate.
  • To manage where required Library Staff providing training as necessary to ensure a consistent high quality service provision.
  • To undertake performance reviews of staff direct reporting to Deputy Librarian
  • To interview new appointees and participate in the decision process
  • Assist with the development, implementation and documentation of policies and procedures for reader services in line with other existing procedures in the Library.
  • To carry out or supervise library administrative tasks which may include documenting records, managing subscriptions, gathering statistics and producing reports as required by the Librarian.
  • Agree Library performance standards with Librarian and establish monitoring procedures and reviews across whole library
  • Contribution to strategic leadership for the service, assisting and deputising for the Librarian across the full range of Library and other College functions, advising on policy issues and business planning relating to library services.
  • Co-ordinate operational planning and organisation of larger projects; coordinate a number of teams or projects on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis
  • To assist in the development and implementation of new information systems and to lead new developments in library related ICT. To Identify and coordinate the evaluation of new and emerging technologies, information requirements, service delivery models and support implementation
  • Lead the library’s contribution to the maintenance and development on the Web and to provide direction to this service
  • Co-ordinate and manage acquisitions budgets
  • Ensure the flexible and effective use of Library space / facilities
  • Review and evaluate library services regularly to ensure continuous improvement
  • Ensure effective implementation of legal, audit and health and safety requirements in policies, procedures and regulations
  • To undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required of you in the post

    Essential Qualifications:
  • Primary Degree and Postgraduate Librarianship qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 Years Library Experience

    Salary: €52,000 to €71,500 (Manager Salary Band)
    Annual Leave: 27 Days per annum
    Contract: Permanent, full time
