Position: Manager of Student Counselling & Mental Wellness Services
Reporting to: Director of NCI Learning & Teaching

Background and Purpose:
NCI is seeking a professionally qualified person as Manager of Student Counselling & Mental Wellness Services. This role is for an experienced mental health professional with the competence to develop and lead the implementation of appropriate policies, services and practices to meet the mental health and wellbeing needs of students as appropriate for a higher education institution.

Key Responsibilities:
• Be responsible for the establishment of a mental health and wellbeing policy framework across the college
• Be responsible for the development and oversight of a range of services to support the mental health & wellbeing of students including mental health counselling with clinical responsibility for counselling and mental wellbeing delivery
• Ensure ethical standards are met and maintained
• Act as a referral point of contact for student counselling and mental health services
• Review and update emergency policies and procedures in relation to student mental health in a third level setting
• Review and report on student counselling and mental wellbeing services to senior management, academic committees and Academic Council and working groups exercising discretion and judgement as appropriate
• Manage the work of a student counselling and mental wellbeing team on a day-to- day basis
• Offer clinical supervision and guidance to staff working with the student counselling services
• Manage designated budgets
• Take responsibility for the recruitment, selection, induction and development of staff within the student counselling service including setting objectives, undertaking reviews and monitoring performance
• Oversee the promotion of a range of events and resources and self-help techniques for students to maintain and safeguard the mental health and wellbeing of students
• Manage and co-ordinate counselling and medical services with external service providers


Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate will have:
• Minimum 5-7 Years’ experience working in Student Counselling/Mental Health Service
• A Masters/Doctoral Level Qualification in Clinical Psychology, Counselling, Psychology or Psychotherapy
• Be a member of a professional regulating body with a professional code of ethics
(PSI, IACP, IAHIP)
• Experience of working in higher education or third level Universities or Colleges
• Managed people and implemented systems
• Leadership skills and the ability to oversee development of services in this area
• Ability to work effectively with diverse internal and external groups
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
• Capability to lead, motivate and facilitate the work of a team

Contract: Permanent
Hours: Part-time - 3 days/21 hours per week
Salary: Dependent on experience
Pension: Defined Contribution Pension
