Health and safety is paramount in the College's plans for reopening the campus.

NCI NCI has invested in measures to ensure the campus is a safe space for all staff and students.

National College of Ireland is doing everything possible to ensure the health and safety of staff and students this coming semester, including provision of new facilities, such as additional handwashing/sanitising stations, cleaning materials, temperature monitors, social distancing measures and additional campus cleaning.

You must take personal responsibility for your actions and behaviours in this environment: log in and out as required, wear a mask on campus and follow the current advice from the HSE.

Before you attend on campus – whether that is for your timetabled classes or to use your pre-booked study space or for any other reason – you must complete a COVID-19 Questionnaire and receive a response confirming that you may return to campus. You may be asked to show this email confirmation at the entrance of the College. If you receive an email saying that you must not attend a campus, be assured that the COVID Manager will contact you within 48 hours to explain why or to better understand your circumstances.

To assist you in preparing for the semester ahead, we have created a Student Protocol document that details exactly how the College is prepared, and what we ask of you, to limit the potential spread of COVID-19. We have also made a video, to let you see for yourself what the NCI campus now looks like.

Contact Tracing

You must only attend campus for timetabled learning events or pre-arranged appointments. On arrival you must swipe your card to log in (and again to log out when exiting) at the entrances to the College: this information is needed in case someone is diagnosed positive for COVID-19 and the College needs to help the HSE with contact tracing.

Enhanced Cleaning

Moore Cleaning Service have a full cleaning programme in place, with regular sanitising of all touch points. However, additionally, students are asked to sanitise any desk space or study space both before and after they use it. Sanitising wipes are freely provided throughout the College.

Face Masks

Face masks are mandatory on campus and students must supply their own masks. The College acknowledges and accepts that certain people may be unable to wear a mask. Each of us has a responsibility to take every care we can to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19. This includes wearing a face mask, regularly washing or sanitising our hands, covering our coughs and sneezes, and maintaining social distancing.

SUBJECT TO CHANGE

NCI is consistent in following HSE advice and Government direction. Should we need to restrict access to campus in response to an increase in COVID-19 restrictions, we will do so, however our intention will always be to return to the plan above as soon as possible.

Please check our FAQs for the most up-to-date information. Students will receive direct communication of updates via college email and Moodle.
