Purpose of Position:
Working as part of
the Career Development & Employability team the work placement specialist
will have a specific caseload of students undertaking ICT Skills, Springboard
or other government funded courses in areas including data analytics, mobile
technologies, cyber security, fin tech, digital marketing and web technologies and
your role will have two distinct elements.
develop strategic employer relationships, identify work placement opportunities
for students (who are upskilling or re-entering the workforce) and manage the
entire recruitment process.

a careers module, employer events, careers fairs, industry panel events.

information, advice and guidance (individually, in group sessions and via webinars)
in relation to career development, self-marketing, networking, employability
and job applications.

Module Development & Delivery:
Plan, manage and
deliver a series of engaging career development workshops (online and in
person) and seminars to students across a number of programmes.
Providing expert advice, information and support to students in relation
to career development, self-marketing, job search strategies, career change and
and liaising with employers regarding involving them in the curriculum, campus
visits, careers fairs, recruitment events, presentations, etc.

Sourcing high quality

This will involve attending workshops & employer events, submitting CVs
& LinkedIn profiles, undertaking mock interviews, preparing a career
action plan and applying for work placements.
providing expert advice and input to student CVs, LinkedIn profiles & job
applications and recommending improvements.
contact with students and monitoring their activity in relation to work
opportunities to students in a range of media.
Advising students on
their applications and on the requirements of them in undertaking a placement;
providing a point of contact while the students are on placement and to provide
feedback to employers following a placement.
leaflets and online tutorials for students relating to their job search.
Developing and maintaining initiatives at college wide and individual
programmatic levels, to enhance the employability of students.

Logging all student
contact on the CRM database.
& Market Awareness:

Graduate with 3-5
years’ experience within agency recruitment and a track record of meeting and

Over the past 4
years National College of Ireland has successfully delivered Springboard/ICT
Skills Conversion programmes to over 1,500 students. This year we have secured
funding for an additional 600 students and as a result require an additional
specialist to deliver an engaging career management module and secure relevant
work placements students undertaking Springboard or other government funded
courses in areas including data analytics, internet of things, mobile
technologies, digital marketing and cloud computing.
8 staff at present within Career Development and Employability who come from a
variety of backgrounds - career guidance, agency and in house recruitment but
what we all have in common is a passion for empowering and assisting our
students to succeed in achieving their career goals. We have worked with
students over the last 4 years and have celebrated some fantastic achievements
and successes and are excited about is ahead of us for the next 12 months.
Salary: Specialist/Senior Administrator Band €36,000 - €52,000
Annual Leave: 24 days per annum
Contract: 1 year, full-time,
of work will be generally 9.00am to 5.00 pm. Springboard and ICT Skills Conversion courses are generally part time
evening courses – as a result the Careers classes will be time tabled in the
