Launch of 'An Introduction to Business Systems Analysis'

The launch of 'An Introduction to Business Systems Analysis' by Dr. Eugene O'Loughlin took place on February 2nd at National College of Ireland. The book was formally launched by Mark Ryan, Managing Director of Accenture Ireland and attended by noted academics and industry experts along with other distinguished guests.

Business systems play an essential and vital role in the growth and survival of organisations in today'sDr. Paul Mooney, President of NCI, book author, Dr. Eugene O'Loughlin and Mark Ryan, Managing Director of Accenture ever more competitive business environment. An Introduction to Business Systems Analysis is a book aimed at describing several problem-solving techniques and strategies for business professionals such as Business Analysts, Project Managers, Systems Analysts, and Consultants.

Dr. O'Loughlin  said: "The launch of An Introduction to Business Systems Analysis provides Business Analysts, and those engaged in business analysis activities, with an introductory text that provides guidance on key activities such as gathering and analysing requirements. The many techniques and strategies described in detail in the book will equip practitioners with the key skills necessary for their problem solving efforts."

Phil Chambers, head of the Business Analysts Association of Ireland celebrated the launch of the book by saying:

An Introduction to Business Systems Analysis is available from the Liffey Press and all proceeds will be donated to the NCI Foundation.

About the author

Dr. Eugene O’Loughlin is a Lecturer in Computing at the National College of Ireland (NCI). He received his PhD in 1988 from the University of Dublin, Trinity College. He then worked as a Production Manager and later as Director of Global Services for over 13 years with the e-Learning company – SmartForce (now SkillSoft). Since 2002 he has been teaching in the School of Computing at NCI where the subjects he teaches include Learning Technologies, Project Management, and Business Systems Analysis at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He is a keen enthusiast for using technology in the classroom. Dr O'Loughlin lives in Dublin and relaxes by riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
