Biography

Karen is a highly published Associate Professor of Law at the National College of Ireland, specialising in employment law, and on the intersection of employment law and technology. She is a barrister and co-author of EU Data Protection Law, (Bloomsbury Professional 2018) and several other books including Information Technology Law in Ireland (2^nd edn Tottel (now Bloomsbury Professional). Karen lectures in the areas of employment law, commercial law (including marketing law), and has published extensively on technology and the law in numerous leading law journals including: The Irish Law Times, The Bar Review, The Commercial Law Practitioner, Law Society Gazette, and Technology and Entertainment Law Journal. Karen regularly serves as an External Examiner for various educational institutions including most recently the Technological University of Dublin. She was recognised as a Teaching Hero in 2021 (National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, and the USI). She also acts as a Pensions Trustee ensuring regulatory compliance.
