The Centre for Education and Lifelong Learning is active in the development of new approaches to learning and education delivery in areas such as P-tech Schools, Technology Enhanced Learning and Blended Learning Design.
Faculty are also engaged in a number of research and professional development projects with the Early Childhood Education and Further Education sectors.
P-TECH
P-TECH is an interesting example as it is a partnership between Higher Education, Industry and Secondary Education, supported by Government. As the Higher Education partner, National College of Ireland’s CELL has designed a programme that sits alongside the current second level senior cycle curriculum, and provides students with the unique opportunity to gain a Higher Education qualification (level 6 on the NFQ) alongside their final second level exams.
To enable the implementation of this programme, CELL also designed a postgraduate certificate for educators (level 9 on NFQ) so that they could deliver the Certificate in P-TECH.
