Thursday 12th and Friday 13th November, a meeting of EU Heads of State of Government, as part of Ireland's EU Presidency, will take place in the Convention Centre Dublin. Significant security measures and travel restrictions will be in place across the city and especially in the Docklands, with NCI located within the designated security cordon. 

It is also possible that there will be another day of industrial action, by public sector workers, taking place on 12th November.

To minimise disruption, the following arrangements have been made:

For Students: All on campus classes – lectures, tutorials, labs etc.  on 12th and 13th November will go online. Where this is not possible for practical reasons, the sessions will be rescheduled. Details on how to join MS Teams classes will be circulated to you by your School. Affected in-class tests will be rescheduled. Library and Support Hub services will be available online, The Mayor Square campus will be open should you need to come to campus, however please fully inform yourself of the restrctions as outlined below, including remembering your Student ID,

For Staff: Staff are requested to make arrangements to work from home on both days. The Central Timetabling Team (CTO) will issue guidance to faculty on how to create the MS Teams meeting events for each affected module. Faculty who are due to teach on both days will be expected to set up and circulate a link to their students. ELI staff have local arrangements in place.

The college has made direct contact with clubs, socs and external bodies holding events at NCI. If you expected to attend an event at NCI during this period, please contact the event organisers directly for their alternative arrangements.

Please note the following, if you do need to come into the Mayor Square campus, that from 8pm on Wednesday, 11th November: 

•    Road closures: No vehicular traffic will be permitted on North Wall Quay.
•    Luas: Services will not operate beyond Connolly Station.
•    Parking: No parking will be permitted within the restricted area.
•    Cycling: Bicycles will not be permitted within the security cordon.
•    Identification: Photographic ID will be mandatory to enter the security cordon. NCI staff and student identification cards will be accepted.
•    Security screening: Bag searches will be in operation at access points.
•    Pedestrian access: Pedestrian routes may be diverted to designated security entry points.
