Chikamso holds a master's degree in Finance with a distinction from the National College of Ireland, class of 2022.
She currently works as a Senior Fund Accountant at State street International Limited, and is also on the journey to becoming a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
She loves writing, swimming and cooking, and is passionate about Intentional and Purposeful Living. She also runs a newsletter (The Intentional Community), where she shares some of her life journey, with the aim of inspiring people in different aspects of life.
What was your most memorable experience from your time at NCI?
My most memorable experience at NCI was during the group assignments. It gave me an opportunity to learn from coursemates, and also share ideas.
How did you hear about your role?
I got to know about my current role, through referral from a friend who was already working in the firm.
What did the recruitment and selection process involve and how did you prepare for it?
The recruitment process involved two stage of interviews, and I prepared by reading up about the company, the role and what it entails. I also reached out to staff in the company via LinkedIn, and asked them questions where I needed clarification.
Can you describe the visa process you underwent if you needed one?
After graduation, I moved to a stamp 1G visa, and after few months of job search, I got a job with my current employer who sponsored me on a stamp 1 critical skills visa. I’m currently on a stamp 4 Visa.
What has been the most challenging part of your graduate journey?
The most challenging part of my graduate journey has been living far away from home, my close friends and pursing a career abroad.
What are your Top tips for current students and graduates who are looking to enter the job market in Ireland.
- Keep a positive mindset while searching for jobs. Don’t be discouraged even when you get a regret mail. Keep applying, until you get what you want!
- Network smartly, reach out to people working at the prospective company, and ask them for a referral. You could be one step closer to your dream job
