ELI’s Robotic coding club programme, in collaboration with NCI School of Computing, is for children aged from 10-12 years who have a keen interest in coding and wish to explore new ways of learning and developing their coding skills. Children learn about robotics, programming, and electronics with an mBot, which is an easy-to-assemble robot that provides infinite possibilities for students to learn STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

Each session runs for 1 hour and is facilitated by a coding tutor and supported by an ELI intern. The session involves short tutorials on an element of programming, robotics and electronics which is complemented by accompanying games and activities. Sessions focus on being interactive and engaging, giving the children opportunities to test and demonstrate the skills they have learnt. Children use age-appropriate software which uses drag & drop, colour-coded script.

Virtual Coding Club

Virtual Coding Club runs for 6 weeks through Zoom, with a prize-giving event on the 7th week. The programme also provides parents and the extended family the opportunity to gain a better understanding of what coding is and how it can be implemented in the home environment. Participants will need their own laptop. ELI will provide mBots for the duration of the programme.
