Karalyne is a Class of 2016 MSc Cloud Computing graduate from NCI. Soon after graduation, she joined Citi as a Graduate and have built a career there, now working as a IT Project Manager.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background:

I completed master in Cloud Computing on 2016 and 1 month after graduation I got a job as a Graduate in CITI and I am from the North Eastern part of India.

What made you choose Ireland as a place you wanted to work? 

Ireland is now home to me. 10 years ago I choose Ireland because it was a growing hub in the IT industries.

What was your most memorable experience from your time at NCI?

I was hired in CITI as a graduate and its the NCI career development Program that I attended help me to land in the job that I join in 2016 and I am still with CITI.

What did the recruitment and selection process involve and how did you prepare for it?

For me the recruitment process was very easy that time I just had one technical round a call of 20mins and I was selected. But because of my experience I got in Ireland I believe had help me with the process . 

During my college days I use to do 2 jobs and 1 volunteer job so I can gain experience in Ireland since i came to Ireland as a fresher. I was working as a lab assistance in DIT and Data analyst volunteer in the organization called Volunteering Ireland.

If you were an international student please describe the visa process you underwent:

I did not take Stamp 1- G because I got a sponsor straight for Stamp –1.

What is a typical day like in your current role? 

I am currently Tech PM I love what I am doing and it is busy but Citi is very flexible especially with women having a small kid.

What has been the most challenging part of your graduate journey? 

Getting my thesis done and doing multiple part times was the most challenging time for me.

What are your Top 3 tips for current students and graduates who are looking to enter the job market in Ireland:

1. If you are a fresher - gain some experience in Ireland. Don't hesitate to look for Volunteering job as this will surely help you with the job because if you gain experience in Ireland - I believe it’s an advantage .

2. Build good connections because this is a key to get referral.

3. Keep your CV very clean and quick read.
