ELI present at EECERA Conference Norway
The Early Learning Initiative presented a paper at this years European Early Childhood Education Research Conference.
The title of this years conference was "Reconsidering the Basics in Early Childhood Education" with a strong emphasis on breaking down the barriers between theory and practice. The presentation by the ELI focused on action research with a community development ethos and reflected best practice. Therefore it was well placed in the "Theory verses practice" discourse of the conference.
The ELI Group (Yvonne Kelly - SAOL project, Mary Cummings - North Wall Women's Centre, Monica Cassidy - Larkin Child-care Facility and NCI and Catriona Flood - Early Learning Initiative) presented on the 'Parental Involvement in their Children's Learning' programme which has been implemented in 12 local child-care centres over the last two years. The presentation got an excellent reception and great praise from the international audience at the 90 minute symposium.
In conjunction with our colleagues in Pen Green Research, Development and Training Base, Grainne McKenna, Monica Cassidy and Catriona Flood are working on a paper for inclusion in the EECERA Journal. This will give the Early Learning Initiative an international profile in a peer reviewed journal.
