Purpose of Position:

This search process seeks to find a highly competent individual with the proven capacity and capability to progress a range of important Quality Assurance and Enhancement initiatives across NCI, working closely with the Director of Quality and Institutional Effectiveness and with the College Registrar, and a wide range of senior academic and professional services staff and the Student’s Union.

The National College is launching its latest Strategy for 2022-2027, in Autumn 2022.

Founded in 1951, the National College of Ireland (NCI) is a not-for-profit third level education institution with charitable status. The Mission of the College is to change lives through education. Located in Dublin’s International Financial Services Centre (IFSC), the College offers circa 120 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and micro-credential qualifications in the disciplines of business, computing, education, and psychology, which are validated by Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI). Many of these programmes also benefits from Professional Body accreditation from the Teaching Council, the Psychological Society of Ireland, CIPD, various Accounting bodies, and more.


The College actively participates in Government funded initiatives such as Springboard and ICT Skills and actively supports the Government’s drive to increase participation in Apprenticeships.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Implement the agreed NCI framework for academic programme lifecycle management, running an effective Programme Lifecycle Management Executive Sub-Group and supporting the Schools, CELL and relevant support units to move successfully through the stages of programme proposal, development, approval, annual monitoring, change and review and re-validation/re-accreditation;

2. Support the Director to develop and manage NCI’s dynamic academic programme QQI revalidation and Professional Body re-accreditation schedule;

3. Provide analytical support for qualitative and quantitative data and information that provides indicators about the quality of NCI’s programmes and modules;

4. Draft qualitative discussion papers and reports on Quality Assurance and Enhancement topics and present these, as needed, to various NCI groups and committees;

5. Train, and supervise staff at more junior grades, as needed, on internal NCI administrative, finance and student systems and on QQI’s Programme validation system and other 3rd party platforms, as needed.

6. Support the Director to implement key Quality Assurance tools relating to learners and the student voice, particularly systematic Programme and Module learner surveys and report on the outputs and outcomes at module, programme and College level

7. Support the wider NCI team to prepare, roll-out, report and follow-up on student survey.ie as it relates to NCI learners

Key Requirements: 

  • An honour’s degree; 
  • A postgraduate qualification that includes education and training in qualitative and quantitative data analysis and reporting is desirable, though not mandatory;
  • A minimum of three years’ experience working in Irish higher education in a professional support capacity;
  • Relevant and demonstrable experience of administration in a complex and fast-paced Higher Education environment, related to the delivery of academic programmes and to quality assurance and/or enhancement activities quality in that context;
  • An understanding of the Irish Higher Education landscape and the role of Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), in particular, and its policies;
  • Proven experience of maintaining accuracy and integrity in data management processes (qualitative and quantitative) and applying data governance controls;
  • Proven ability to build trust and effective partnerships and collaborate with a range of colleagues internally and externally;
  • Demonstrated ability to meet fixed internal and external submission requirements and deadlines;
  • Experience in providing analysis and reports to inform decision-making at a programme, school and/or institutional level. 

Salary: 

Senior Specialist/Supervisory Band (€41,412 – 62,121)

Annual Leave: 

24 days per annum

Shortlisting

HR draft up the shortlisting documents and provide the initial screening to determine if a person meets the essential criteria of the competition. A shortlisting panel is generally made up of two senior grade staff members from the relevant department for which the role is being recruited.

Sharing of your data

Where you have been successfully shortlisted for a post, each interview panel member will be furnished with a copy of the relevant information of those who will be attending interview in order that they can review applications in advance of the interview process. All such information will be returned to NCI and shredded following the competition process. Some of the interview panel will be external interviewers, who are not employees of NCI but are engaged for the purpose and are strictly subject to the rules and policies of the College.
