Fashion, Art, Beer… and Blockchain!
Join us at our BlockW Culture Night event which will explore how blockchain technologies, like the Metaverse, are transforming our lives, our economy and our society.
When: Friday 23rd September
Where: The Atrium & Kelly Theatre, National College of Ireland (see directions)
Professor Joyce O’Connor is a founding member and Chair of BlockW, a female-led network whose mission is to increase awareness around Blockchain technologies. BlockW’s focus is on diversity, equity and inclusion in exploring pathways to education and training, so that women and all members of society are at the cutting edge as the whole of society prepares for a future with as yet undefined jobs requiring new skills.
NCI is proud to host BlockW in this exploration of Blockchain, moderated by Joyce, with contributions from:
- Paula Kilgarriff, Head of Creative Partnerships at Clout.art/SwaySocial, Head of Fashion and Retail at Threedium 3D Immersive Retail Solutions, and Retail Innovation lecturer at TU Dublin. Paula develops Web 3 and Metaverse ecosystems for luxury fashion brands and will use fashion as the example of how Blockchain empowers retailers to innovate.
- Shane McCarthy, Founder of Ireland Craft Beverages, Killowen Distillery, Two Stacks Irish Whiskey – Dram in a Can and, most pertinent to this event, Downstream Blockchain Beer, sees a natural symbiosis between the alcoholic drinks market and contemporary tech and is revealing that truth to others by bringing to market the world’s first Blockchain Beer, which you can taste for yourself at this event!
- Joyce Moloney, visual storyteller, poet, facilitator, Mother Of Story Emotionalism, sees an online world that is not just an extension of our social and commercial lives, but is also where we think, create and are mindful. Learn of her experience as an artist in the Metaverse, where technology makes a new space for creativity.
The event will kick off at 5.30pm with presentations beginning at 6pm. Finally there will be networking opportunities from 7-7.30pm where cheese and wine and the world's first Blockchain Beer will be provided.
