The Early Learning Initiative at NCI welcomes #GivingTuesday to Irish shores

Hoping to channel some of the festive season’s spirit of generosity, #GivingTuesday has arrived on these shores, and it’s here to make its mark!

Beginning in the United States in the summer of 2012, a new movement of citizen philanthropists decided to transform the Tuesday after Thanksgiving into a grassroots day of giving back, in an effort to change the way Americans think about charity.

Having arrived to Ireland this year, this national day of giving back will hopefully capture the imagination of many this December 2nd, with #GivingTuesday as an antidote to #BlackFriday and #CyberMonday. As a charity, the Early Learning Initiative at NCI realises more than most the benefit of charitable giving and modern philanthropy, and this social movement innovation is no different. Whether giving money, time, knowledge, or a voice, we’d like to hear what you or your company is doing this #GivingTuesday.

The ELI team have been busy taking their own #UNselfies around the college, and also out and about with our fantastic volunteers in the community, in an effort to take over social media platforms by raising awareness to the importance of giving back. If you’d like to take your own #UNselfie, whether as an individual or a company and tell us how you’re participating, we’d love for you to tweet your photos to @NCIRL or the ELI’s newly created Twitter account @ELI_Docklands, or share your photos on the ELI Facebook page.
