Information Technology and Telecommunications Conference at NCI

National College of Ireland’s School of Computing has organised this year’s Information Technology & Telecommunications Conference (IT&T) Conference to take place at the college’s city-centre campus in Dublin on 29th and 30th October.

The conference, now in its 14th year, is a unique event in the Irish tech calendar and brings together researchers, developers and practitioners from both academia and industry along with funding agencies and international business experts.

This year, the focus of the event is “ICT for a more Digital Experience”. Ireland’s leading researchers will come together with industry leaders to share their insights and learnings in the areas of Data Analytics, the Internet of Things, Cloud Computing, e-Learning and Mobile and Wireless Communication. All these areas are of significant importance for NCI, which specialises in these areas through its School of Computing and Cloud Competency Centre.

NCI lecturer Dr Cristina Muntean, Co-Chair of the conference this year, said: “NCI is delighted to host this year’s event and to bring together key players from academia and industry in the areas of Information Technology and Telecommunications. Ireland has a strong research base in this area and the conference will create a forum for academia and industry to present their latest research results and developments, discuss ideas and demonstrate applications.”

Keynote sessions will take place on both days of the event from 9:30 to 10:30 (Thursday, 29th of October and Friday, 30th of October) and will include:

• Anthony McCauley, Head of Research, Fujitsu Ireland
• Martin Duffy, Head of Pre-Sales and Business Advisory, SAS Ireland
• Paul Glynn, CEO of Davra Networks, Ireland
• Conor O’Sullivan CEO of Adaptemy, Ireland

This year’s conference also includes 13 research papers from the Irish Institutes of Technologies, Colleges and Universities. The papers will be presented in five sessions named: Internet of Things, Multimedia and Wireless Networking, Data Analytics, ICT for Health, Education, Transport, Traffic; and Cloud Computing.
