Minister Harris announces technology assistance for students

National College of Ireland is delighted to receive funding for technology to assist students, in response to the greater requirement for online and blended learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. The College is thankful to Minister Simon Harris and the Department of Higher and Further Education for unrolling this initiative. Full details of Minister Harris’s announcement are available on gov.ie.

NCI has a diverse student body, including many people who directly experience the ‘digital divide’; who do not have ready access to computers and the internet in their homes, and who were hardest hit by the campus closure and, indeed, closure of public libraries. The College looks forward to ensuring that those who most require assistance will gain access to technology through these funds.

The Student Laptop Fund application form is now open, applications must be submitted by Monday 14th September for returning NCI students and by Monday 21st September for new NCI students.
