Accommodation

Finding the right accommodation, at the right price and location, is one of the biggest challenges that all students encounter. You can choose to live on campus or off campus, depending on your own personal, study and budget preferences.

DIFFERENCES IN LIVING ON CAMPUS OR OFF CAMPUS

ON CAMPUS

THE GOOD

  • Great location
  • Safe and secure with 24 hour security
  • Own private bedroom with shared Living Space
  • Saves time as no need to search for accommodation
  • No commute so saves on transport costs

NOT SO GOOD

  • Availability is limited and fills up quickly
  • Can cost more than off campus
  • You must abide by the on campus house rules

OFF CAMPUS

THE GOOD

  • The lease is normally for 12 months
  • You can pay monthly, so no big upfront cost
  • In many instances the cost is cheaper if you can share your room with someone else
  • You get to choose who you live with

NOT SO GOOD

  • Better to be in Dublin before you begin your search
  • Most students have to stay in temporary accommodation at first
  • The search can take time and is stressful
  • You are unable to get a tax number for work or open a bank account until you have found your off campus accommodation
  • You may have additional transport costs
