Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background:

I have nearly 5 years of professional experience in IT, working across areas like automation, data analytics, and service management. I completed my Master’s in Cloud Computing at NCI, where I worked on projects involving CI/CD, Kubernetes, and data-driven solutions. I enjoy roles that let me combine technical skills with teamwork and problem-solving.

What made you choose Ireland as a place to study and work?

Ireland offers a vibrant mix of global companies, a strong technology ecosystem, and great career opportunities for international graduates. The education system, especially at NCI, is closely aligned with industry needs. I was also drawn by the multicultural environment and welcoming community.

What was your most memorable experience from your time at NCI?

One of my best experiences was collaborating with classmates from diverse professional backgrounds, countries, and levels of experience on real-world projects. This exposure gave me fresh perspectives and greatly improved my communication and teamwork skills. I also appreciated the practical, hands-on approach in classes, which helped bridge the gap between theory and practice.

How did you hear about your role? (Was it a jobsite, a contact, a recruitment agency, some you met at a careers event etc?)

I found the opportunity through LinkedIn while exploring openings that matched my skills. Alongside that, I regularly checked job sites and stayed in touch with multiple industry experts to keep updated about relevant opportunities.

What did the recruitment and selection process involve and how did you prepare for it?

The process included multiple interview rounds - both technical and behavioural. I prepared by researching the company, practicing both technical and situational questions, and reviewing past projects I had worked on. Staying confident and structured in my responses helped me perform well.

Can you describe the visa process you underwent? (Did you get Stamp 1G or Critical Skills – has that changed since joining etc

After completing my master’s at NCI, I received the Stamp 1G visa, which allowed me to stay in Ireland and look for career opportunities. Once I secured a full-time role, I continued on Stamp 1G, and after completing my probation I received my Critical Skills visa which allowed me to stay in Ireland.

What is a typical day like in your current role ?

My day starts with reviewing priorities in a team meeting. I then work on tasks such as improving workflows, creating dashboards for reporting, or implementing technical solutions for efficiency. Collaboration with colleagues and continuous learning are also key parts of my day.

What do you like most about working in your current role or profession?

I enjoy that my role combines technical problem-solving with direct impact on business processes. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to learn, whether it’s improving security, automating tasks, or supporting decision-making through data insights.

What has been the most challenging part of your graduate journey?

Adapting to a new job market was challenging at first, especially understanding the expectations of employers in Ireland. Balancing job search, interviews, visa timelines and part time job required resilience. However, these challenges helped me grow more adaptable and confident.

What are your Top 3 tips for current students and graduates who are looking to enter the job market in Ireland?

1. Build your network early through LinkedIn, career events, and alumni.

2. Tailor your CV and highlight both technical and transferable skills.

3. Stay open to learning and be persistent—opportunities often come after consistent effort.
